Farmer’s Lung Claims
Farmer’s Lung is most commonly caused by allergic alveolitis, which is an allergic disease that can affect agricultural workers; it is often referred to as extrinsic allergic alveolitis, hypersensitivity alveolitis or hypersensitivity pneumonitis.
Agricultural workers can suffer with this if they have worked with materials that emit spores and dust which have not dried properly. Exposure to these materials can cause an inflammation to the lungs and acute lung disease, which over time can develop into chronic lung disease.
Is Farmer’s Lung caused by employer negligence?
Farmers are at a greater risk of being diagnosed with Farmer’s Lung if their employer has failed to place preventative measures to reduce humidity. It is the obligation of employers to protect employees from potential injuries and industrial diseases such as Farmer’s Lung.
If you have been diagnosed with Farmer’s Lung and believe it is the fault of your employer’s negligence you could be entitled to claim Farmer’s lung compensation.
Causes and symptoms of Farmer’s Lung

The main causes are from two types of bacteria in spores, which are Micropolyspora faeni and Thermoactinomyces vulgaris. As well as certain types of mold such as Aspergillus.
When a crop is harvested in wet or damp conditions, bacteria can form when the crop is self-heating in storage. The hay can dry and become dusty which is then breathed in by agricultural workers and can cause the allergic reaction.
