- E. coli – A type of bacteria that lives in the lower intestines of healthy mammals, it can cause food poisoning if it is ingested. If food handlers have failed to thoroughly wash food or cook food, it can cause E. coli poisoning.
- Campylobacter – Bacteria found normally in undercooked or raw meat, untreated water and unpasteurised milk. If it is directly ingested or if bacterium is spread to other sources such as salad by someone who hasn’t washed their hands after handling raw poultry, it can lead to food poisoning.
