England footballer Wayne Rooney and his wife Coleen are being sued for £4.3 million, it has emerged.
The couple are being sued alongside their agent Paul Stretford by their former sports management agency in a row over commission.
It is alleged that the Manchester United striker and his wife owe Proactive £4.3 million in commission payments, Manchester Mercantile Court heard.
The company agreed lucrative sponsorship deals with major companies on their behalf. The court heard that the firm got commission of up to 20% on multimillion-pound contracts signed by the Rooneys to endorse firms such as Nike.
Rooney's agent Paul Stretford was the company's main contact with the couple. However, no commission has been paid since Mr Stretford left his position with the firm in 2008 and refused to authorise further payments. The commission is now worth £4.3 million, the court heard. Mr Stretford singed up to represent Rooney in 2002 when he was an 18-year-old Everton player.
