The leader of funk legends Sly and The Family Stone has sued his former business manager over millions of dollars in allegedly-unpaid royalties.
Sylvester Stewart, better known as Sly Stone, issued the lawsuit against ex-manager Gerald Goldstein and several companies, claiming that they had defrauded him of earnings spanning two decades.
According to the action, the manager and others had diverted royalty payments into new companies so they could borrow against the singer's work.
Sly and The Family Stone shot to fame in the late 1960s and early 1970s with hits such as Dance to the Music, Everyday People and Family Affair.
Goldstein was not available for comment.
