Brad and Angelina to sue newspaper

10/02/2010

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are suing the News of the World over allegations that they were to separate, it has emerged.

The newspaper reported that the Hollywood couple had agreed to separate and divide assets worth £205 million. It also said they had made custody arrangements for their six children.

The couple's lawyers said the allegations were "false and intrusive". Meanwhile, Pitt, 46, and 34-year-old Jolie, attended the Super Bowl in Miami with son Maddox, 8, to watch the New Orleans Saints beat the Indianapolis Colts. In 2007, Pitt founded an organisation to build houses for people who lost their homes when Hurricane Katrina hit the city.

Jolie recently travelled to the Dominican Republic to spend time with victims of the Haitian earthquake. Gonzalo Vargas Llosa, a representative of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, accompanied the actress - a goodwill ambassador for the UN refugee agency - on her trip.

Dario Manon, a spokesman for the Dario Contrera Hospital in the capital Santo Domingo, said: "She spoke with several children and a Haitian woman who recognised her and requested help."
